Teeth Whitening

Over time, your teeth can change from white to not-so-bright for several different reasons. Our teeth are porous, just like our skin. This means the surface layer has permeable, microscopic holes. These pores allow anything that comes into contact with your teeth to seep into them, leaving unsightly stains over time. Beverages such as coffee, tea, and red wine, as well as foods like berries, will eventually lead to discoloration in your tooth enamel.

If you’re looking to bring the radiance back to your smile, you’re in luck. SKS Dental helps the people of Arlington and the surrounding communities whiten their teeth with both in-office and at-home Zoom! Whitening treatments.

How Does Zoom! Work?

Zoom! Whitening works by immersing your teeth in a specialized whitening gel that soaks into the pores of your teeth. This whitening gel breaks down the chemical bonds of the stains and gently pushes them out. Depending on your specific needs, there are multiple options available for this treatment.

We can perform the cosmetic treatments in-office, or provide you with a take-home kit to brighten your smile at your convenience.

In-Office Treatment

When you opt for in-office Zoom! Whitening treatment, Dr. Sabharwal prepares a stronger, more concentrated form of the whitening gel to apply to your teeth. This gives quicker results under the expert application of our experienced dentist.

The treatment takes 30-45 minutes, and can easily be tacked onto a routine exam to save you an extra trip. The best part is that you see significant results after just one treatment.

At-Home Whitening Kits

In addition to in-office treatment, SKS Dental can also provide you with Zoom! Whitening kits to take home. This allows you to enhance your smile whenever and wherever you are.

These kits consist of whitening gel and custom-fitted trays made to conform to your teeth and gum line. After brushing your teeth to clear excess plaque and debris, apply the gel to the trays and place them over your teeth.

After about 30 minutes, the trays should be removed and thoroughly cleaned with cold water, followed by a rinse with mouthwash to clean the leftover gel from your mouth. This process is repeated daily for two weeks until complete, leaving you with a more radiant smile.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Much Does Teeth Whitening Cost?

The cost of teeth whitening will depend on several factors. The number of sessions will influence the final price, as will the severity of the cosmetic issues being addressed.

What Do I Need To Know Before Zoom! Whitening?

Preparation is key for a successful Zoom! Whitening treatment. The first step is to schedule a regular cleaning appointment. A professional cleaning removes surface stains and plaque, allowing your teeth to respond better to the whitening process. This step ensures that you get the most out of your Zoom! Whitening treatment.

What Precautions Should Be Taken During Zoom! Whitening?

During Zoom! Whitening, it’s crucial to use the gel correctly to avoid gum irritation. This includes not overloading the trays with gel and storing the whitening case in a cool, dry place. After application, rinse and brush your teeth to remove any excess gel. Avoid eating, drinking, or smoking while wearing the trays to prevent the gel from being disturbed.

How Often Is It Safe To Do Zoom! Whitening?

Zoom! Whitening is powerful, so Dr. Smita Sabharwal recommends limiting the procedure to no more than once a year. To maintain the whitening effects for a longer period of time, adopt lifestyle changes that minimize re-staining. This includes improving your diet, dental hygiene, and avoiding substances that stain teeth.

How Long Do Teeth Continue To Whiten After Zoom?

Post-Zoom! Whitening treatment, your teeth will continue to whiten for the next two weeks. This ongoing process is why it’s recommended to wait before undergoing any shade matching for cosmetic or restorative dentistry, allowing the true color to fully develop.

Can I Brush After Zoom! Whitening?

Yes, brushing your teeth after a Zoom! Whitening treatment is encouraged. For best results, use a soft-bristle brush and gentle toothpaste, especially those designed for sensitive teeth. Using fluoride toothpaste can also help reduce any post-treatment sensitivity, ensuring your teeth stay healthy and comfortable.
